MONTREAL WORKSHOP

For the second consecutive year, Khru Pat Gagnon, joined by Khru Mike Raley, will be in Montreal to lead a Krabi-Krabong workshop, the traditional Thai martial art of weapons.  


This year’s focus will be on the use of the Daab (Thai swords) and Mae Sok (Thai tonfas). With the Daab, the emphasis will be on Chuts — in Thai, “Chut” (โฉด / ชด) refers to a prearranged sequence or drill combination. In Krabi-Krabong, these are structured partner drills where one attacks, the other defends and counters, flowing through a continuous exchange.  With the Mae Sok, we will work on counts and striking patterns to enhance coordination, flow, and striking power in close-range combat. Some time will also be spent using daab and mae sok in combination.


This event is also an opportunity for Krabi-Krabong practitioners from across Canada to gather and share, with participants joining us from Quebec, Ontario, and even Alberta.


Pour une deuxième année consécutive, Khru Pat Gagnon, accompagné de Khru Mike Raley, sera des nôtres à Montréal pour diriger un atelier de Krabi-Krabong, l’art martial traditionnel thaïlandais des armes.


Cette année, l’atelier portera principalement sur le maniement des Daab (épées thaï) et des Mae Sok (tonfas thaïs).  Avec les Daab, nous mettrons l’emphase sur les Chots — en thaï, “Chot” (โฉด / ชด) désigne une séquence ou combinaison préétablie. En Krabi-Krabong, ce sont des drills à deux partenaires où l’un attaque, l’autre défend et contre, dans un échange fluide et structuré.  Avec les Mae Sok, nous explorerons les counts et striking patterns, afin d’améliorer la fluidité, la coordination et la puissance dans le combat rapproché.


Cet événement est aussi une occasion pour les pratiquants de Krabi-Krabong au Canada de se retrouver et de partager, avec la présence de collègues et passionnés provenant du Québec, de l’Ontario et même de l’Alberta.
